Oct. 21st, I ran the Grand Rapids half marathon and finished in 137:37. Thank you Metro Health Marathon for putting on a great race! I trained for this marathon for about 10 weeks, and my goal was to finished 1:30:00. But it didn't happen this time. i must of ate to much pasta the night before, or the wheat bread and banana was to much for me or i didn't use the restroom enough.
The beginning of the race i started off a little to slow for myself - 8 minute pace (should of been doing 7:45/7:30). But, the first few miles it was a little tough getting up to a good pace because of me ending up in back of the line at the beginning of the race. At about the half way point, us runners were eventually spread out. And, around the half way point is when i had to go number two. That bugged me bad. Like i said about what i ate before the race or the night before, it must of been to much or i didn't use the bathroom enough, i think it was not be able to use the bathroom enough. So about around mile 7, i had to go bad. But i kept running and went through the pain. I really had thoughts on running to the bush, but didn't. I had heard there might of been port a potties at the water stops but i didn't thinking about looking around.
About 1/4 to the end, i ran it with strength to the finish. Seeing that i had a lot of speed to the end, i could of ran the race faster, but next time ill be more careful before i run. So other than that, the race was GREAT! The cheering was AWESOME and HELPFUL! The course i liked A LOT! And i'm looking forward to NEXT YEAR!! Thank you Dan Kern, the staff and Grand Rapids.

My first post.
My first post of my blog! I decided i thought i would start a blog on my running adventure; my trainings and races. Running is not something i do for fun or so loose weight, I run for the races and challenges. I don't if i'd say "i love running" but, i enjoy it! I enjoy the challenges to beat a time or beat the person in front of me, when it comes to a race. I started running when i was about 10-12 years old (i don't exactly remember) And, my first race was the Kalamazoo Klassic i believe, in Kalamazoo MI. I've ran cross country in high school, ran multiple 5k's, a few 10k's, and 2 half marathons. In fact, I've been training for my 3rd half marathon, Grand Rapids half marathon! I've been training since august, and I have 2 weeks till the race! I'm excited and ready. You might be asking why i haven't ran a full marathon... Well, iv'e thought it was a lot of miles and i enjoyed doing the half's. But just last week i really had thoughts on changing Grand Rapids half to the full. I kinda said to myself, i've already done 2 half's, why not do a full? So i thought about it and would of liked to, but i realize the race is in just a few weeks and wouldn't want to kill myself trying to train up to 26.2 miles in 2 weeks. So, i decided i'll stay with the 1/2.
How did i start getting into running? Well, my dad is a BIG runner! Well, not so much know since he's starting to get to his old stage in running. But, he kinda got me in to the running hobby. But when i really got started in running races was after my first half marathon. Since then, i've ran more 5k's, another 10k and another half marathon May, 2012. I've ran Kalamazoo Borgess half marathon twice, and i plan on running my first full at Kalamazoo Borgess marathon in 2013, i think so haha.
So far of my half marathon training, i have 2 weeks to go. The race is Oct. 21st, Grand Rapids half marathon. And, i would really like to finish around 1:30:00. I just gotta keeping working hard, focus and hope for the best!
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. -1 Corinthians 9:24
